Kayla Flam is an editor and videographer based in Chicago, IL. More than a decade working on small production crews in specialty markets, Kayla has learned how to not only get what is needed while on set, but has developed the skill to know what will be needed later.

In one of her first jobs, Kayla worked for a video production company specializing in the pet industry. This time in the trenches honed Kayla’s editing skills for speed and sharpened her ability to shape a story organically, which she used to produced content for small and large pet brands and multiple animal-centric conferences including Pet Food Forum, Backer’s Pet Expo, and SuperZoo Trade Show. While popular wisdom suggests never to work with children or animals, Kayla has done both, sometimes simultaneously, and finds sometimes babies and pets are more predictable than adults.

Next, Kayla was responsible for producing daily video content at Womensforum.com while working with the production teams to create branded campaigns for large CPG companies. Kayla has always been a speed-demon in the editing booth, but it is her time in front of the camera producing and hosting a daily web series for the women’s lifestyle website that gives her an extra unique point of view when it comes to being “on” camera and delivering visually-led video content on a schedule. Here she produced branded content for companies like Huggies, Johnsonville, and Prego.

The Emmy-nominated videographer took her skills to her own company where she led the production arm of Social Snacks to create a signature style of producing, editing and delivering multiple videos from a single production with versions for every channel to feed all of the various digital platforms. Here, Kayla worked with everyone from small, women-led startups and medical groups to small and large CPG companies. Some of these companies include O-Cedar, Learning Resources, Haymarket Media (PRWeek, MM&M, McKnight’s), EvolveHer, Palmer Hamilton, Dremel Digilab, and Eightfold. Kayla was once asked what her niche was, and she replied, “I’m passionate about other people’s passions.”

Kayla also produced video content for CattitudeDaily.com, where she grew the YouTube channel from 0 to 3,000 subscribers and 400k views in 9 months. Kayla also edited video content, wrote blogs, and created graphics for The Founding Moms, and then helped transition that community to the Branch Moms Business Hub.

Currently, Kayla is in charge of video content and photography for Pet MD Brands. She also works as a freelance videographer, focused on producing simple and effective e-commerce videos. She likes to think of herself as a MacGyver of video production- she’ll solve any problem with whatever tools she’s given.

Kayla lives in the Chicago suburbs with her husband, 2 kids, and 4 cats and would be happy to bore you with stories about any of them.
